Hello, well not many people know how to train magic, and what the best way’s are, but I’m about to change that. But what most people don’t know is that there’s many different ways to get 99, and some methods make money while others lose money. I’m going to cover three topics of training, each has good and bad things:
- Lunar Magics
- Normal Magics
- Ancient Magicks
In each spell book, different spells have different exp/gold rates and hour, and also have different effects. There’s also a few different places to do each spell, each one effects efficiency and experience rate’s an hour. The spell book that we’ll cover first is Lunar. Not as many people train magic with lunar because they think the spells are costly, but there’s a few ways to get arroud the cost, and get great experience and hour.
~82+ Magic Needed~
The best way to mix experience and cost together is to mix two spells together. Two spells in the lunar spell book that work well with this are Humidify and Magic Imbue. Both of the spells use the same runes, and only one astral. It’s best to have a steam staff to do this, or have a stockpile of fire runes. Otherwise this isn’t the way to go. Timing is very important while attempting this, because if not, you’ll just waste time, and that’s not good.
Here’s the inventory you should have, you should also have a water/steam staff equipted, if you have steam take out to fire rune and replace with an extra empty vial.

What you do is you find a one click bank, such as Castle Wars, or Neitiznot. That or Pest Control bank, because you can’t get randoms there, but I suggest one of the other two, because you’ll just waste time if your always right clicking.
Now that you have your inventory, you should click on your spell book. Click on humidify, and a cloud should appear over your head, wait about 2 seconds, until you see the first appearence of lightning in the cloud, and very quickly click imbue. Once you’ve done that, enter you bank, bank your water filled vials, and withdraw 26 or 27 empty ones. Repeat until disered magic level.
>>> NOTE!: You don’t use imbue every time you bank. What you do is you use humidify/imbue, bank, withdraw empty vials cast humidify. Bank once again, withdraw more empty vials, then cast humidify/imbue, and repeat. <<<
Here’s the profit/loss:
If you used a steam staff, you should get:
151 Magic exp every 3-5 seconds, and make 95gp per inventory
Going by an inventory every 6 seconds, here’s the final profit/exp:
Aprox. 70K-95k Magic Experience, and 57,000gp an hour.
^This is the best way to go^
And without a steam staff:
70K-95K Magic Experience, and 13,000gp an hour
But there’s also just Humidify by it’s self, this brings in:
58K-65K Magic Experience, and about 160,000gp an hour
-~* Normal Magicks*~-
Using normal magics there’s a few spells that are good for experience, and profit. I’ll be covering four different types of spells, and there exp/loss per hour.
~Alching~
Alching is the most popular way to train magic for pures, and regular accounts too. That’s because almost everyone knows about it, and also the things to alch. It’s also the easiest to get supplies for because of the ammount of rcers getting nature runes. The best things to alch are:
-Air Battlestaves :Alch at the Grand Exchange, buy in increments of 100 -low loss
-Yew Longbows :Easy to obtain, but large loss
-Magic Longbows :Hard to obtain, small loss
-Ruby Bracelets :Sometimes easily obtained, other times hard to get, medium loss
-Green D’Hide Bodies :Easy/Hard to get, medium loss
-Pouches :Haven’t really done these, I heard they’re great
-Blue D’Hide Bodies
one before, really hard to obtain, very small loss
Here’s some places to alch, they’re all different:
-Player Owned Houses :Good to meet people
-World 24 Castle Wars :Entertainment and other people, great place
-World 132 Yanille :Alot of fletchers, depends on time for alching, easy to get Yew Longs
-Pest Control :No Randoms, depends on world for ammount of people
-Game’s Room :No randoms, but no people, good for hardcore alching
These are my favorite places, some are better than others, personally I switch every 1-2k alchs.
How Much you get per hour:
~60k-75k Magic Experience, random ammount of money depending on what you alch. Usually under 25M for 99.
~* Cursing *~
I’ve done cursing on a few pures before, it’s medium speed, but very cheap. It’s the way to go if you don’t want to spend over 3M-4M for 99, and don’t care about speed. Always wear full armour mithril+ while cursing, so it doesn’t actually hit, because you get the same experience if you splash. Then you can continue using the spell.
Runes Needed: Water, Earth, and Bodies
->> NOTE: Mud Staves are easy to obtain and HELP ALOT!! <<-
Some Places to curse are:
-Magic Guild basement :Alot of Zombies to curse on
-Zamorakian Monk in Varrok :Behind a cage, this is the place for non-members

Experience Per Hour: About 30K
Money Loss: Depends on how many you can do an hour, I still need to test.
~* Super Heating Ore’s *~
This is one of the fastest magic experience rates in game, it also helps smithing. But it is also VERY EXPENSIVE!!. Plan on spending over 30M on 99 with this method. The best way to do this method is Pest Control Bank, while super heating gold ore. >>I don’t know if Goldsmith Gaunts work with this, Need to Test<< You should have a fire staff or lava staff equipted while you do this, otherwise it’s not worth it. Get out your nature runes, and fill the rest of your inventory with gold. Click on your spell book, select -superheat- and click on the bottom ore. Do this till your inventory is full, bank and repeat.
What you get per hour:
85K+ Magic Experience, 90k+ Smithing Experience, and (Don’t know how much money loss per hour)
~* Enchanting *~
This method is straight forward, the best place to do this is in the MTA with either a mudstaff or lava staff depending on your magic level. You should have a few thousand cosmics on you for the spell your using. The best way to do this is to run arround and enchant the dragon stones first, then enchant the items on the sides of the room.
What you get per hour using Dragonstone Enchant:
45K-60K Magic Experience, 70k-100k loss per hour
What you get per hour using Onyx Enchant:
55k-70k Magic Experience, 70k-100k loss per hour
-Remember you can always resell your staves-
~–* Ancient Magicks *–~
When using ancient magicks to train, you’ll be losing ALOT of money. From level 80 to 99 you’ll spend well over 80M using this method. But you also will stock pile thousands of charm if you burst/barrage rock lobsters, and make some of the money back bursting/barraging mummies. The three places I suggest are the Monkey Madness Tunnels, Mummies, and Rock Lobsters.
- Mummies -
I suggest bursting mummies in the chaos tunnels because it’s multi-combat, and they’re quite a few bunched together. Be warned though, they can hit high into the 20’s so you need prayer potions. Here’s where you should stand and cast:

Once the mummies are in a pattern similar to this, cast away. Always hit the one in the middle, it’s the center one of a 3×3 square that you will hit, and will allow you to get the most experience, once most of them are dead, run arround and round them up once they respawn, and go back into the corner. You should bank when you have one prayer potion left. This is so that you don’t die.
- Rock lobsters -
Rock Lobsters are my personal favorite monster to burst/barrage, mainly for the high ammount of charms they drop, and the sometimes also drop pure essence. You can round up a hundred charms here an hour, and quite a few arrows. But, you also need prayer potions for these, because when you run arround to get them together they can hit hard.

- Monkey Madness tunnels -
These are very similar to mummies, but are far from a bank, and are sometimes crowded. These should be your last resort. Follow the directions similar to mummies, and just keep killing them.

Barrage:
Experience per Hour: 300k-500k+
Loss Per Hour: 2M-4M
Loss for 99: 80M
Burst:
Experience per Hour: 200k-330k
Loss Per Hour: 1M-2M
Loss for 99: 60M
*Special Methods Review*
Bursting and barraging are the winners in the best experience per hour at higher levels, but the best way to 99 Magic is lunar, for the experience, and money made. Spending all the money on runes/prayer potions for ancienting is very costly and adds up, but with lunar your money will grow. If you do humidify from 68 to 82, and then humidify and imbue to 99 you should make over 20M.
-=-= * 1-99 Magic: How To * =-=-
1-3 Magic: Use the runes off of tutorial island, and use air strike to level 3. This should take only a minutes or two.
>> You should also buy full iron, and have a negative magic attack bonus. Cast these spells on the Zamorak monk in varrock castle. <<

3-11 Magic: Buy or make 100 body runes, and 300 earth runes. Buy an earth and water staff, equipt the water staff and cast confuse till level 11.
11-19 Magic: Again buy or make 125 body runes, and 400 earth runes. Use the water staff and cast weaken till level 19.
19-25 Magic: Buy or make 134 body runes, and 400 water runes. Use the earth staff and cast confuse till Varrok Teleport.

25-43 Magic:
-Cast 200 Varrock teleports till level 31 Magic
-Cast 309 Lumbridge teleports till level 37 Magic
-Cast 477 Falador teleports till 43 Magic
(Option 2: Slower and Cheaper)
25-43 Magic: Cast 1,466 Curses on the Zamorak Monk

43-55 Magic: Cast 2,195 Super Heat’s to 55 Magic, this will take less than two hours.
(Option 2: Slow but Cheap)
43-55 Magic: Cast 4,011 Curses on the Zamorak Monk. This will take a few hours.

~Congradulations your now level 55 Magic! You have access to one of the best training methods now~
-The Many Options of 55-99 Magic-
55-99 Magic: 197,967 High Alchs, this method gives a medium ammount of loss, and a medium ammount of experience per hour.
55-99 Magic: 27,992 High Alchs to level 80 Magic. Then from there Ice Burst to 99. This will cost over 60M
55-99 Magic: 6,745 High alchs to level 68 Magic. Then 43,171 Dragonstone enchants to level 87 Magic. From level 87 Magic, you’ll need to cast onyx enchant 93,425 times for 99 Magic. This is a medium cost way to 99 magic, but isn’t very fast.
55-99 Magic: 443,718 Curses to 99 Magic
55-99 Magic: You’ll need to cast High Level Alchemy 27,992 times to get to level 80. And from there ice burst to level 94 magic, and then Ice Barrage all the way to 99. This method is the fastest method to 99, and is also over 80M to get.
55-99 Magic: 242,789 Super Heats to go from 55 to 99 Magic, this is a medium/high speed way for 99. You also will be very high smithing along with it. It costs over 50M
55-68 Magic: 6,745 High Alchs to 68 Magic. Once you are level 68 you have a choice. Either do 191,222 Humidifies to 99 Magic, or 27,940 Humidifies to 82 Magic, and then doing 81,641 Humidifies and Imbues to 99. >>> THIS IS THE BEST WAY FOR 99 MAGIC!!! <<<

hey m8 thats some great advice about the curse spell on the monk of zamorak in varrock. i hadn’t thought about that and its great exp for my pure mage. i was cursing in the stronghold of security on the mice and minotaurs and wolfs. this is way better. thanks again.

uhm, the lunar way to 99 doesn’t work. you only getting 65 exp for humidify and thats for 27 vials. So you need to do humidify 1k times for 65k exp per hr. however, that means you need to have 27k vials and it doesn’t seem possible to humidify 27k vials within an hr.
it might be possible, here is the math i figured. 1hr=60mins times 60sec = 3600 sec in 1 hr, divided by 1000 casts would be 1 cast every 3.6 sec to get the said 65k/hr. if u did 1 cast every 6 sec it would be 39k/hr. just saying…. btw i love ur guide i’m glad you took the time, and its not another alch till 99 guides

1 question is when you are casting spells on the monk y did u say to wear full iron…?
B/c then the spell splashes and you can cast it instantly after without needing to wait.
Really nice guide 9.5/10: the lvl 55+ part is perfect. The stupid thing is: how will a mage/range/ or even str pure get the money to buy the runes and staffs needed to supply the needed runes?
This is quite confusing because even if u know how to train magic, how long will it take to only get the runes?

quick question im 72 and idc about money tho i need to get 80 withing 2mil should i ice burst in soul wars or high alch? my friend says ice bursting brings in the ebst expiernce while i think alching is profit
While alching is never profitable [unless supplies and runes are DIY'd], it certainly keeps the amount of money you lose to a minimum. Ice bursting costs more, yet quicker exp. so, the choice is yours

You can use the curse idea on the dummys in lumbridge and not wear armour.
Hey I dont under stand you make 160000 gp per hour without staff is that correct?
lumbridge dummies r the best place to curse, u dnt need to wait even if it hits.
also alching pouches, steel minotaur can bring profit even if ur buying both the nature rune and pouches.
Another fast way is using plank make which ive heard is pretty quick, bt the loss is high.
if u want the xp and dont care bout the profit then id suggest humidfying with a fishbowl as it has a one-click empty option, placing it under the spell and using quick keys to swith between spellbook and pack.
