Today we’ve launched our second line of navigation updates. These will make getting around the site much more easy.
First, you will notice that we’ve removed several unused site widgets on the sidepanel. Now, the only ones on there are the ones that are easy to use and will really benefit you. The calendar was mainly our top tool but really, no one was using it to it’s existence was pointless and you couldn’t find what you are looking for soon enough.
Unfortunately, our search feature does still have a few flaws, so we moved it down for now to lower it and it also much more easy to find what you are looking for in an outline view.
Thirdly, we’ve added the Contact Us box. This will allow our viewers to contact us without having to view a different tab and they will be able to get in touch with the staff members of the board regardless of which page you do happen to be on of our site (excluding the forums for the time being).
Finally, we’ve cleaned up our community page to add in a little more information about reporting posts and contacting staff.
These updates may seem minor for the most part, however, the do really make getting around the site easier and less frustrating.
Coming Soon: In the near future when we release Navigation Updates three and four, we do have quite a few plans. First off, we are cleaning up the tab content. It will be in a table, and viewers will have the ability to review the guides and rate them. This will be easily displayed in an excel table with the title, length of content, type of guide, and rating.
We are going to take ratings via email, any ratings below 3 must have a good reason as to why they are given that rating. The guides will be sorted by skill in alphabetical order as well as we will leave spaces open for guides that will be coming soon. Look out for the first beta tonight on our skills guides.
In these spaces as a temporary filler, we will simply put in some extracts from the DIY guide. We will and are making it very clear that this emptiness will not be tolerated and we cannot operate a successful fansite under these conditions.
We do hope to get these out in the next two updates and we hope you are finding our site more easy to use,
Doggyman
Board Director
