BTS Spring 2008

Before RuneScape.com publishes their official  behind the scenes, we’d like to get ours out first. The staff here at RuneScapeDIY as well as our wonderful and very loyal community members are really working hard to our forums up-to-date and based on your feedback, here are a few new updates that you can expect to be coming soon!

Easier Navigation

In our site, we have recently added the pages tab. This really makes adding guides a lot easier for us, however, we do know some things are misplaced and we will get them all in their correct locations as soon as possible.

Secondly, you will notice that many of our tabs will change to better lead to information relevant to what you are searching for to quickly access what you need to get to. This does allow for us to show you what you are looking for very quickly and promptly.

We are finally moving our official search engine up to the top of the page. This search engine will assist you in finding relevant information as soon as you can.

More Reliable

In the past, our site has always been reliable for tips regarding guides, however, we are stepping our reliability up a notch.

First off, we are opening up a new section of our site that will have a system in which you may submit feedback regarding mistakes in the guides. In most cases, if you post it on the guide, the writer will notice it and get us to repair it, however, this does make the process quicker so that less people get misleading information.

We also try our best to deliver the most up-to-date news directly from RuneScape.com. In order to better post news, we will make our news posters from our official forums have the option to post news on RuneScapeDIY’s home page, this will allow you to see what’s happening in RuneScape almost as soon as it happens.

Third, we will continue to relay on your feedback on our forums to better assist you.

Higher Legibility

Currently, there are quite a few errors in the site that does leave some sections difficult to read and some screenshots very difficult to view. As a director of this site, my goal is to ensure that you are able to access site information easily and quickly, and currently, you are not able to do that.

Therefore, in the very near future, we are adding a new feature that can and will make the site look better and generally feel better as well. This means that everything posted will display correctly and that we will take the time to resize images that do not fit and edit improper HTML.

More Traffic

We are planning on advertising our forums on several different sites. You can also help in this step by simply telling your friends of our existence! We have over 1,500 consecutive page views, and on weekends we get over 30 users that view our site – how that’s impressive!

Our forum is also a great place to hang out, and in the future, we are considering getting a better distribution.

Easier to Reach

We are planning on getting a domain however it is not at all definite. This does sound a little odd to us right now, however, it would really get us a lot more traffic, and that would really make our site popular.

There is no definite date (ETA) for the domain, nor do we really know if we will get one or not, however, please do stick with us and we will keep you updated.

If we do get a domain, you will be automatically forwarded to it via this site and it will be exactly the same as before other than our forum will be hosted on it as well.

Thanks and we hope to get these out throughout the spring,

Doggyman

Planned Updates

While April does sound very exciting, we do still have some more updates to add to your RuneScape Experience. First off, you may have noticed when viewing some of your favorite guides there is a bug where you cannot view the entire screenshot if one is posted. We are working on ironing out this bug and we will get this repaired before the end of March.

Secondly as many of you have noticed, we do have a forum. If you are interested in viewing it please click here to access them. We are planning on updated our forum very soon and we do get all of your great ideas from the board, so if interested, please do sign up.

Moreover, we have also added in a Spam Protector on to the board which will block some comments that is believes to be spam or simply made for advertising purposes. If to ever do come across a comment such as this, please report it to us at our official forums here. Our forums can easily be accessed at runescapediy.x.am.

We also do have several new guides to release to further assist you in the community and we do plan on releasing two of the beasts before the month is over.
